Pakistan Christian Welfare Society “PCWS

Since the very creation of Pakistan (and even before) the role of Pakistani religious minorities has been eminent and commendable in nation building and social welfare. A good proportion of social development in the country can be attributed to the contributions of Non-Muslims in areas such as education, health and other political, social and cultural fields.
Christians make up around 1.6 per cent of Pakistan’s overwhelmingly Muslim population, with large settlements across major cities and more than 200,000 in Islamabad.
The city of Islamabad was built during the 1960s to replace Karachi as Pakistan’s capital. The talented Pakistani Christians also migrated all across the country to the new capital city Islamabad to play their role to contribute the overall socio-economic development.

Development of PCWS Housing Project and
Establishment of PCWS Community Development Centre

-PCWS Housing Project

The first project from PCWS was to work with the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Government of Pakistan to facilitate Christian Community to provide legal housing facility.
Through this project 60 plots were allocated to PCWS members in 1987. With in three years all the houses were built and the member of PCWS were shifted to their own homes.
Initially the single story house construction was allowed later on PCWS continued working with CDA authorities and finally it was allowed to build two story homes in the locality.

-Establishment of
PCWS Community Development Centre

Having felt the need for a Community Development Centre within Christian Colony, the PCWS did its best to acquire land from CDA. The head of all Churches of Islamabad also showed solidarity with PCWS to demand for the establishment of PCWS Community Development Centre.
PCWS is highly grateful to CDA authorities for accepting the application and approving the construction plan of the Community Development Centre on February 23, 2016.
